What is Suspension Training?

The users hands or feet are suspended from an anchor point while the opposite end of the body is in contact with the ground.  A desired proportion of the users body weight is loaded on to the target zone and used throughout the exercise. The amount of body weight loaded is determined by the users current level of fitness and conditioning. The TRX can be used to train power, strength, endurance, coordination, flexibility and core stability simultaneously across a wide range of resistance.

Who can benefit from Suspension Training?

Absolutely everybody. Suspension training can be used to achieve any fitness or performance goal. Resistance can instantly be adapted by simply changing body position, which makes the TRX a safe and effective training method for all individuals from complete beginners through to professional athletes. Suspension training is currently being used by a wide range of professional athletes in football, baseball, basketball, hockey, combat sports, tennis, golf, triathlon, swimming, surfing and many more. Suspension training is also a fun and effective way of developing general fitness and weight loss.

Origin of the TRX:

The TRX suspension trainer was originally developed by Randy Hetrick and his US Navy SEAL teammates. They needed a way of staying in peak condition without the use of traditional exercise equipment while on wharf side warehouses, urban sate houses, ships and submarines. The original design consisted of a few lengths of parachute webbing hand stitched together with rubber boat repair tools. Over time the team developed a database of body weight resistance exercises using this harness. This was the foundation of the TRX and a unique type of functional training now known as Suspension Training.

How much does it cost?

Our indoor classes are run over a 5 week course. Each course consists of two 1 hour classes per week over the 5 weeks (10 classes).
